Dr. Abraham Shashoua is Director of Minimally Invasive and Robotic Gynecologic Surgery at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center. He is Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology. He is an Assistant Professor in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Illinois. Dr. Shashoua has been a Castle Connolly Top Doctor from 2000-2019 and was featured in Chicago Magazine as a Chicago Top Doctor for Women in the January 2011 and June 2019 issues.
Dr. Shashoua specializes in minimally invasive procedures and advanced laparoscopy for the management of chronic pelvic pain, pelvic organ prolapse, incontinence, uterine fibroids, endometriosis, and heavy menstrual bleeding.
Dr. Shashoua was the first gynecologist in Chicago to perform robotic surgery in 2005. He teaches robotic surgery locally, regionally and nationally. He performed the first Single Incision Laparoscopic Hysterectomy in Chicagoland in 2008 and the first Single Incision Robotic Hysterectomy in 2009. He is a specialist in advanced laparoscopy for pelvic pain and endometriosis.
Dr. Shashoua is originally from Chicago, attended the University of Miami School of Medicine and completed residency at the University of Chicago in 1996. He is an assistant professor at the University of Illinois.
